Caseic-Rules Archery

Caseic-rules Archery is a sport in the Caseic Federation that developed from the toxophilitic traditions of warfare from classical-era Casea. As technology developed, the use of unenhanced longbows became obsolete in favour of more modern compound crossbows. Rather than destroy the older bows, many nobles decided to instead keep them and establish a tradition of sport. This lead to the development of the Caseic Inter-National Archery Organisation (CINAO) during the Vigintarchy Era. In the modern day, CINAO is still responsible for overseeing and regulating archery clubs within the Caseic Federation.

Games & Governance

The rules of Caseic-rules Archery are governed by CINAO, and are updated every three Caseic years to account for changes in technology and to adapt to the development of new strategies. Officially, CINAO classifies Caseic-rules Archery into # distinct games:

  • Competitive Individual Stationary-Target Archery: Each archer has three attempts at hitting a stationary target with an unenhanced longbow. Any archer who fails to hit the target is eliminated. If, in a given round, no archers are eliminated, the target is moved further away for the next round.
  • Competitive Team Stationary-Target Archery: Archers are grouped into teams of three, with each team member having three attempts at hitting a stationary target. If any archer fails to hit the target within three attempts, their entire team is eliminated.
  • Adversarial Paired Archery: Archers are armoured and randomly paired. Each archer has five attempts to hit their opponent. If an archer's armour is pierced, they are eliminated. In the event of an odd number of archers in a round, a previously eliminated archer is randomly selected to rejoin. A winner is declared when one archer remains
