Biography

Early life and ancestry

Umanay Deram was born in Durantum, Kingdom of Akaria. At the time of his birth, his grandfather Koltonoi was the Leader of the Deram. During Umanay's life both his father and brother would serve as the Leader of the Deram.

High Director of the Living Army

On 6-9 1120 TT Umanay Deram married Kotupe Perat, daughter of Living King Garikoph Perat. On 13-10, 1120 TT Garikoph made Umanay High Director of the Living Army and that he would serve as his second in command during the upcoming invasion of the Andu Kur.

Living Election

Elective reform

On 10-9, 1099 TT whilst addressing a crowd in Wayok's Park, someone fired at Umanay with a handheld omtarre cannon. The main fire stream missed Umanay and soon engulfed the raised platform Umanay had been speaking from. The crowd soon fell into chaos allowing the culprit to escape. Umanay survived the attack unharmed, though many had been trampled during the panic.

An investigation into the identity of the would-be assassin began immediately. However, due to a lack of physical evidence and witness discrepancies, a suspect could not be found. On 27-9 1098 TT whilst attending a dinner in Todak, Parikok Lakar told Umanay that his brother Boikokok, Leader of the Lakar had ordered his death. Umanay ordered the Combkar Tower searched and found a barrel containing omtarre residue with the same composition as residue found in Wayok Park. Boikokok Lakar was arrested on 12-9 1098 TT and executed the following day. Parikok replaced his brother as the Leader of the Lakar

Tobutai, Leader of the Bokok condemned the execution claiming that Parikok and Umanay had framed Boikokok for the attack. Umanay chose to take no action against Tobutai over this claim despite several of his advisors including his brother Hekur recommending it.

On 18-2 1096 TT whilst walking to his car Umanay was ambushed by an assassin who Umanay managed to subdue. At the same time, Parikot Lakar was thrown to his death from the top of the Combkar Tower. The man who attacked Umanay was revealed to have been Otok Bokok, son of Tobutai, who was subsequently arrested. Both Otok and Tobutai were executed on 28-2 1096 TT. A likely apocryphal story claims that Umanay spoke to Tobutai moments before his execution. He told Umanay that he wanted him dead because he thought that he would create one ossbosche for one major populated area as his great-great-grandfather Hortank had proposed. On 19-4, 1096 TT Umanay issued his 19th Dictate dissolving the previous Kadrike-based ossbosches and creating new ossbosches based around population centres.

Death

Umanay died on 9-6 1078 TT while visiting his Durantum family.
