Biography

Early life and ancestry

Bark Dar was born in the Golden Citadel, in Bar within the Akarinian Confederation, on 3-7 1549 TT during the reign of Toghon Kakay. Saymok's grandfather on his mother's side Nimbak Perat would succeed Toghon as Living King.

Bark Dar's father and the Leader of the Dar, Erik Dar died on 27-3 1528 TT. Three days later Bark succeeded him. He was made heir apparent to Living King Saymok Deram shortly after Saymok's ascension as Living King on 29-5 1522 TT. Bark Dar left Bar on 8-2 1520 TT to live in Ablesken to prepare himself for being the Living King which he became on 16-3 1475 TT following Saymok's death.

Living King

At the time of his ascension, the Akarinian Confederation was in a disorganised state. The Marauder Crisis had given rise to warlords throughout the Karin Plain. The few tribal groups that remained outside of warlord control no longer recognized the authority of the Living King and the Confederation. Only the lands of the Deram which surrounded Ablesken remained under the Living King's control.

On 28-9, 1471 TT one of the warlord groups, led by Temur Bokok advanced into the Deram lands. Temur's forces were not driven off by the Living Army as others had been and managed to reach the Tumak Ordok on 7-10 1471 TT. Temur confronted Bark in the Tumak Ordok and challenged him for his leadership of the Dar under the right of blood. Temur's claim was based on the fact that one of his wives was a granddaughter of Bark. As the challenge was not made during a leadership change Tumak was not bound by tradition to accept it. However, the vast army surrounding the ordok compelled him to accept the challenge. The elderly Bark was killed during the duel by the still-youthful Temur.
