The Ronatana Sea Conflict of 10 PC was a small battle between the Yotumic Divisionary Federation and the Confederated Nations of Niueyjar (CNN). The battle was started after the CNNNS Kyle Karenso refused to be searched after being discovered in waters claimed by the YDF.

Background

Since 8 PC the Nation of Niueyjar, (later became the Confederated Nations of Niueyjar) the Kingdom of Akaria and the Republic of Utlia had donated food and weaponry to the Tun'ilhameng community of Ronatana, an island claimed by the Yotumic Divisionary Federation. After the activities of Nieuyjar were made aware to the YDF, the congress declared that trading or aiding the Tun'ilhameng or the Tun'ilhameng Liberation Procedure (TLP) would be considered aiding in terrorism, and by extension an act of war or casus belli.

The Yotumic Divisionary Federation enforced a policy of no contact with Ronatana by arming naval platforms around Ronatana. Since the 30-10 10 PC, the naval platforms continuously broadcasted warnings that entering the area violated the Yotumic Divisionary Federation international conduct code, and that vessels violating would be prosecuted.

Battle

On 6-11 10 PC, At 2:02 am the CNNNS Kyle Karenso departed from the island of Ronatana. The Kyle Karenso was spotted by YDF Naval Platform #9 and ordered the vessel to be boarded. At 2:49 am the Kyle Karenso Naval Platforms #9 and #12 opened fire on the vessel after refusing to be boarded. The naval platforms used snipers and low-grade explosives, while the Kyle Karenso fired back with 3 shots of 200mm artillery. After 21 minutes, 12 of the 20 crew members and 21 YDF seamen had been killed. At 3:32 am the fuel tank of the Kyle Karenso was set on fire, resulting in the vessel being destroyed.

International Communications

At 2:13 am, Council Head of the Council of Directors of the Confederated Nations of Niueyjar, Heidr Gullveigdaughter was made aware that the Kyle Karenso was being detained; a public radio communique directed at Yun Yan'il started, with a request for why the vessel was detained. After Yun Yan'il expressed the reasoning and displayed a YDF court document showing a conviction for the vessel. After Heidr refused to order the vessel to comply with the YDF Defense Force Navy Yun Yan'il stated that the naval platforms were given the orders to fire on the offending vessel. At 2:49 the battle began.

Trent Veersham entered the radio channel and attempted to convince Yun Yan'il to stand down on the attacks and stated that the vessel was run by civilians. At 2:53 am Heidr claimed the attack to be an act of war, reasoning that the sea is not sovereign territory and that Edward had not forbidden transit to Ronatana. Veersham agreed with Heidr and claimed that the attack was an act of aggression against Niueyjar. At 3:00 the CODCNN ordered CNNN vessels to support the battle. Yun Yan'il stated that if the vessel surrendered that the crew and vessel would be allowed to leave and only the captain would be prosecuted. This statement was ignored.

At 3:14 am Yun Yan'il stated that the vessel would be set on fire if the CNN did not surrender the captain. at 3:32 the vessel was set on fire. The vessels that were sent to support returned to Niueyjar.

At 3:48 am on an Open Radio Channel Trent Veersham said the following statement to Heidr:

"Perhaps you could bomb their military, or kill Yun Yan'il. Break-even."

Following this threat, Yun Yan'il, the YDF congress, and military advisors were sent to bomb-resistant locations. At 4:21 am the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the Collective Kel-Elemi Republic said:

"The Foreign Affairs Bureau of the Collective Kel-Elemi Republic would like to deny that Trent Veersham, President made any threats and states that nothing will happen to Yun Yan'il outside the Lower House building on her next visit."

Aftermath

The day after the battle the Confederated Nations of Niueyjar Navy announced that all further shipments to Ronatana will be accompanied by heavily armed convoys.

Reactions

A report commissioned by the YDF, published on 10-11 10 PC revealed that many Nongbans were both scarred by the prospects of a war with the CNN and embarrassed by the losses they sustained.
