Biography

Early life

Bantu Arkara was born on 13-5 180 TT in Ablesken, Kingdom of Akaria and was sent to Saeskar at a young age to be raised by his relatives there Saeskar by relatives.

37th Living Election

Living King Chogot Banokan died on 22-1 143 TT triggering the 37th Living Election. In 146 TT the Deram overthrew the government of the Mikare and replaced their leader Kamachium Mikare with his cousin, Echantium Mikare. Responses to this across the Karin Plain were largely negative, with the majority of the Kadrikes, including the Arkara calling for an all-out war against the Deram. Chogot declared no war and instead put several sanctions in place against the Deram and the Mikare. Some, including the Arkara, were not happy about what they saw as a lacklustre response. This unhappiness lead to Bantu Arkara being elected Living King on 15-3 143 TT with a new perikat consisting of the Arkara, Ikane, Kakay, Perat, and Skrake.

Retribution against the Deram

Initially Bantu had intended to bring Akaria to war with the Deram, however, two days after his ascension a fire consumed the Weer city of Manser. As Manser produced a large portion of the Living Army's weapons and munitions a war was considered to be impractical with this crucial part of the supply line being non-functional. Bantu's 1st Dictate was issued on 24-3 143 TT, declaring that Echantium Mikare was an illegitimate ruler of the Mikare and that only the descendants of Kamachium were to be considered legitimate. His 2nd Dictate was issued the next day which ordered the transfer of funds to the Oceanic Council to help with rebuilding Manser. Following Bantu's ascension, the Living Press began issuing vast amounts of Anti-Deram propaganda.

Oken leadership dispute

On 1-2 116 TT, a woman, named Arakar Oken was elected Leader of the Oken. The election brought quite a deal of outrage throughout the Karin Plain, with many members of the Kadrikes claiming that a woman could not lead a Kadrike. It also brought about the Oken Revolt of 116 TT in which the High Director of Oken Army rejected Arakar's legitimacy. On 15-2 116 TT, Arakar's mother, Unoi Oken, met with Bantu in Ablesken to argue Arakar's case before him. As an Arkara, Bantu had a much more progressive view on woman than most in Akaria. Unoi pointed out to Bantu that during the reign of Arakar's father, Naikar, the Oken had taken on a great deal of Akaria's industrial load and that keeping Naikar's lineage in power was essential to guaranteeing that Akaria's supply lines were kept intact. On 22-2 116 TT, Bantu issued his 25th dictate, recognising Arakar as the Leader of the Oken and recognising the Oken's right to be led by women.
