Biography

Early life

Johnakar Oken was born in Oksken on 6-6 71 TT to Adar Oken and Mynine Ikane. Johnakar was educated in the Naikar Memorial School in Okenate close to their family home. Johnakar attended the First Oken Business School from 13-2 53 TT to 13-12 47 TT.

After graduation Johnakar moved to the town of Adazete in the Ald Osslette where he established the Oken-Adazete Supply Shop on 17-12 47 TT. The land and the building for the shop was purchased by Johnakar's distant relative Amilate Oken in exchange for a third of the newly made company. Another third of the company was given to Johnakar's brother Kazant Oken in exchange for stocking the store with goods produced in his factory.

By 40 TT the Oken-Adazete Supply Shop, now often called the OA Supply Shop had locations in every major town in the Ald Okenate. Johnakar bought Amilate Oken's share of the company on 18-3 39 TT.

Kazant Oken died on 24-8 29 TT. By this point Kazant was the Head of the Oken Family and as such an Oken Family meeting was convened in Okenate to decide on his successor. Normally during lucrative times the winner of an Oken Family election is known beforehand but Kazant died young and his eldest son Kuzakar was still very young. Part way through the election Kuzakar conceded and endorsed Johnakar. The election concluded on 28-10 29 TT with Johnakar victorious. Shortly after being elected Johnakar gave his share of the OA Supply Shop to Kuzakar.

Head of the Oken Family

As the head of the Oken Family, Johnakar was entitled to submit his nominee for the next Living King to the Ossbosche Assembly. Despite being a wealthy family the Oken Family was fairly minor within Akarian politics and Johnakar's nominee being selected was unlikely. Johnakar did not nominate himself for the position and instead nominated his six year old son Harakar. Johnakar explained in a speech that his work as the head of the Oken Family was far more important than anything that he could do as the Living King.

On 9-12 10 TT the Perat Family announced that they had uncovered a plot by the Arkara Family to further increase their influence over Ossbosche Assembly. The documents presented linked the Arkara Family to the deaths of multiple Ossbosches and prominent Udenbosches. These revelations began the False War. During the False War, Johnakar had the Oken Family sell the major Holy Families large amounts of weapons. He also used the war to allow the Oken Family to purchase companies and properties from Holy Families who were normally uncooperative towards the Oken Family. Living King Bantar was assassinated on 13-7 4 TT. There was much debate within the Ossbosche Assembly as to who to replace Bantar with. The once esteemed Arkara Family had attempted to overthrow the assembly, whereas the Perat Family and their allies were suspected to have been behind the assassination of Bantar. On 30-10 2 TT the Ossbosche Assembly named Harakar Oken Living King. As the father of the Living King Johnakar became one of Harakar's closest advisors.

Following the Grand Calming it was deemed necessary to establish a unified international merchant fleet to better trade with the newly discovered nations of the Attu Archipelago. Johnakar assisted Harakar in creating Harakar's 9th Dictate which established the Akarian Trade Fleet. The dictate was issued on 23-3 1 PC with Johnakar being made the high director of the new fleet. He used his position as the Head of the Oken Family to lease a large number of ships for its members. His position gave Johnakar the power to act on Living King's behalf. One of his first actions as high director was to establish the Naikar Port which began construction two days after his appointment.

Johnakar housed Harakar at his palace in Oksken during the Arkara Uprising of 3 PC.

Between 24-1 and 20-6 5 PC Harakar was confined to various hospitals throughout the Eastern Bloc for medical treatment and was unable to rule. Johnakar as both a close adviser to Harakar and his father ruled the country in his place. During this time Akaria adopted the haracalnde as their national calendar.
